You Underestimated Me, Hun.

Skipper is the cutest thing in the universe.

And everything is falling into place exactly as it should.

For once, I don't feel guilty for being happy.

I am doing what I am supposed to.

I'M THE FIRST ONE DAVE.

It's all ending with me.

I am Amanda- a daughter, aunt, niece, granddaughter, student, lover and friend. As a child who was born to a mother and father who gave me away to be raised by others, I am a part of a vocal yet largely unrecognized minority. Now over 10 years into a reunion with my biological family, I am coming out of the shadows of the "good adoptee" and finally standing my ground and claiming all facets of my identity. This blog is not about my adoptive family, nor is it about my life as their daughter. This blog is about the murky beginnings of my life- the time when the adults in my biological family made a calculated decision to expel me from their midst. This blog is about our reconnection- the fragile and often tumultuous love that exists between myself and the family that gave me away. This blog is a reckoning- an attempt to muddle through the complex emotions and discover the truth that no one ever wanted me to find.
